Visit from the Police

As part of the monthly theme people who help us, on Thursday afternoon we had a visit from the local police. The children had a wonderful time dressing up in the hats and police clothes they brought with them. They also got to have their fingerprints taken using ink, to finish off they all got to sit in the police jeep, sound the siren and have a fab time. The nursery would like to Thank the police for sparing us their time, talking to the children and making it an enjoyable experience for them. Opportunities like this are great for the children to meet their local police and nogt be afraid.

Staff achievement

Monthly Theme

For the month of June, the theme is People Who Help Us. This theme is popular every year and Jill the nursery manager arranges for visitors to attend the Nursery. We are having visitors from the local Police, Dental hygienist and Fire Brigade.

Toothbrush Club

The nursery has signed up to the Designed to Smile Programme. The Nursery Staff have all received training, all parents have signed consent forms and we have now been given the toothbrushes, toothpaste and storage bus for the children. Members of the team will call every month and if we need new supplies, they will replenish this for us. We are extremely pleased that all parents have agreed and signed up to the programme as it is extremely important that we encourage the children to clean their teeth and look after them.

Dan-yr-Ogof

This year, the monthly theme for April was Dinosaurs, we arranged a trip to Dan-yr-Ogof, to visit the farm area and dinosaurs. A small group of children went, mainly the older children in the over twos room. All had a wonderful time, looking at the dinosaurs, and going around the farm area.

Grant money

The nursery is running a trip to Cantref Farm on the 15th of June, to help with the costs of the trip, the Nursery was successful in getting a grant from Communities First, which has covered the cost of the bus hire for that day. The nursery would like to say a huge Thank You for this help.

Staff Changes

There have been changes in the staff structure in the Nursery. Clare one of the senior Nursery Assisstants, has left the Nursery after being offered a position in a Special Needs Unit. Also due to childcare problems, Stephanie had to finish her employment. The Nursery wishes both members of staff all the best, they will be sadly missed. As these two members of staff have left, we now have two new members of staff, Gemma Hancok and Stacy Harris both girls have settled in well to the Nursery team. Kate Williams and Tiffany Figoni are now senior members of the Nursery team.
